Selah Journal Reflection Prompts

The purpose of the Selah Journal is to encourage you to pause, reflect and B Tru to yourself and to celebrate life.  It is meant to be done while sitting by your mini campfire candle.  This isn't a time to bash yourself but definitely a time to write down and make physical what is stuck in your mind whether they are celebrations or challenges.  Each week we will have prompts to encourage you to B Tru!

Question
(4/11/22):

Is comparing yourself with another person beneficial? Is being inspired different than comparing? How do you separate these in your mind?

Question
(4/4/22):

Reflect on a time when you felt powerless in a situation but a peace you couldn't really explain but it seemed to take over.

Question
(3/28/22):

Describe a time when you felt the life being sucked out of you.  Why do you feel in that moment you felt that way?  Is there something you could have done about it to change it?

Question
(3/21/22):

I enjoy lifting weights.  When you lift weights each weight is a mini trial self-inflicted on your body to make you stronger. Think about something that you are going through right now and write down and process why this trial may be intended for you to walk through to make you stronger just like lifting weights does.

Question
(3/14/22):

Is there something you own that is a tool meant to enhance your life but at times it actually controls your life? Elaborate!

Question
(3/7/22):

What is something right now that is harder to finish than you think it should be? This could be a small thing or a big thing.  If you are like me it could be a lot of things. :-) Focus on the root of why this is. Try and be true to that cause and just get it on paper.  Remember, don't focus on bashing yourself but focus on some realities that may or may not be out of your control.

Question
(2/28/22):

What is something your younger self would be proud right now about your older self.  Elaborate and don't just focus on accomplishments but focus more on the kind of person you are and how you treat your family, friends, community, etc.  What do you think would surprise your younger self the most?

Question
(2/21/22):

What is one thing that you have been wanting to do for a long time but haven't done it?  Write about some potential outcomes of that thing if you take the first step to do it.

Question
(2/14/22):

Was there a moment recently where you didn't act your true self because of the people you were around?  If so, why do you think you felt that way?  How do you think they would have treated you if you were yourself?

Question
(2/7/22):

How can I be the most present for the people I am around today?  What are some things distracting me that are way less important than the person I am with?  What could be a strategy to be more present?

Question
(1/31/22):

How did words from someone you love empower you to do something you never thought you could do? For instance think about some encouragement that someone gave you that changed your behavior.

Question
(1/24/22):

What is one thing I am not doing right now because I'm scared of what other people may think about me if I do that thing. This could be something big or something small.

Question
(1/17/22):

Reflect on a moment where you felt most alive.  Describe in as much detail what you were doing?  Who were you with?  Why do you think you felt most alive?  Let your mind wander but document where it is going.  Think about how you can repeat those moments and re-create them.  Try and find central themes as to why you feel the way you do.

Question
(1/10/22):

What are you holding back to do today because of fear? It could be something really small or really big. If you are struggling thinking of something then another way to think about it is what are you holding onto that you need to let go?
